John J Kelley crafts tales of individuals at a crossroads. His stories deal with themes of personal growth, reconciliation, and finding one’s place in his or her community. As such, they offer meaningful topics for group discussion.
Born and raised in the Florida panhandle, John graduated from Virginia Tech and for a time served as a military officer. Today he lives with his partner in Washington, DC, where he can often be found wandering Rock Creek Park when not hovering over his laptop at a nearby coffee shop.
John’s debut novel recounts the struggle of a young WWI sniper returning to a Virginia community reeling from war, influenza and economic collapse. The Fallen Snow received a Publishers Weekly starred review and earned an Honorable Mention nod at the 2012 Foreword Reviews Book-of-the-Year Awards.
His current work in progress explores the fallout on the lives of three individuals – a prominent senator, a campaign staffer, and a former classmate – when a long-buried secret surfaces under the public glare of a fiery Presidential primary race.
