Today marks Writer Unboxed’s 18th blog-versary! Many thanks to all who contribute to the success of this site–our editors, our contributors, our guests, and our community members! You are the reason that WE write on.

How long have YOU been writing? When did Writer Unboxed become a part of your journey? What goals have you set for yourself for this coming year?
Writer Unboxed began as a collaboration between Kathleen Bolton and Therese Walsh in 2006. Since then, the site has grown to include ~50 regular contributors and a variety of guests on rotation throughout a given year.
In 2016, the Writer Unboxed team published a book with Writer’s Digest / Random House. AUTHOR IN PROGRESS: A No-Holds-Barred Guide to What It Really Takes to Get Published is a comprehensive guide focused on helping writers over/around/through hurdles faced at every stage of the novel-writing process. It’s received some ***** reviews; we hope you’ll check it out.

Writer Unboxed became my go-to writing advice platform while I was living in California. Now back in Chicago, it still is…the best way to read and to share with other writers their successes and struggles, their advice and deep feelings about writing. Happy 18, Writer Unboxed.
Since discovering Writer unboxed three years ago, I’ve turned to it daily for insights and advice. I’ve profited from words of wisdom from David Corbett, Donald Maass, Liz Michalski, Kathryn Craft, Desmond Hall, and too many more to mention. Congrats, and here’s to 18+ more!

The song that pops into the old guy’s head is Alice Cooper’s salute to being 18. Not sure it fits for the site, but I think it still works for me:
