If you’re in the Los Angeles area, the Writer’s Digest Novel Writing Conference (October 28-30) will not only be a stellar event focused on craft, it will also be home to the Author in Progress Book Launch/cocktail party/signing/reading! Everyone who signs up for the conference will receive $25 off their early-bird ticket with the case-sensitive discount code WU25. (The discount will remain in play even after the early-bird price ends on 9/12, but registering early is your best bet for savings.) The schedule is packed with sessions on Craft, Storytelling, Character, and Genre Studies, and will feature classes and other unboxed events by some of your friends here at WU, including Porter Anderson, David Corbett, Margaret Dilloway, Catherine McKenzie, Barbara O’Neal, Therese Walsh, and Heather Webb. WU friend James Scott Bell, who wrote a wonderful foreword for Author in Progress, will also be presenting.

Additionally, the WU team will put on a panel on one of our favorite topics: Backstory!

UnConference Book Signing

On the heels of our west-coast party, we’ll head to the east coast for our second ever Writer Unboxed UnConference (November 7-11). Midweek, on November 9th at 7 p.m., we’ll have our open-to-the-public book signing at the Hawthorne Hotel. Signing copies of Author in Progress and their own books will be 20+ WU’ers, including Juliet Marillier, Barbara O’Neal, Kathryn Craft, Lisa Cron, Keith Cronin, Donald Maass, Anne Greenwood Brown, Brunonia Barry, Cathy Yardley, Liz Michalski, and Heather Webb. We’d love to see you there!

Final Call for UnCon: Last Three Tickets + Discount Code

Currently there are just three seats remaining for the UnConference, and because of a situation which makes it harder for these three last attendees to stay through for the Friday night party–there are no rooms left at the hotel on Friday night–we’re offering a discounted rate. What does that mean for you as a potential attendee? Will you miss any of the sessions? No, you should be able to attend all of the sessions, which wrap by 5:30 on Friday, however you might miss that evening’s party unless you find a bed elsewhere or like to travel late. Hence the discount.

If you’d like to reserve one of these last discounted tickets to UnCon, please visit our event page HERE and use the (case-sensitive) discount code last3. The event will be jam-packed with sessions on craft, activities and, of course, community (read more HERE). If you have any questions, please reach out to us directly at unconference@writerunboxed.com.

Our contest for an Advance Reader Copy of Author in Progress is still underway and going well with over 3,800 entries. If you haven’t yet entered, remedy is HERE.
