WU Haiku

By Kathleen Bolton  |  November 13, 2006  |

I have a major post drafted on Christopher Vogler’s WRITER’S JOURNEY plotting method that I’ve road tested for you, our readers, but between NaNo, reading the novel of an author we hope to interview for WU, and life in general, the post still sucks a chicken’s butt. Instead, here is a haiku about my NaNo experience that I’d like to share with you. I’m using the popular 5-7-5 short renga structure.

Merciless NaNo

Has me shamed another day

Fingers await dawn

I hope to have the Vogler post ready soon.  Until then, write on.

Hey Kathleen, I’ve got a Writer’s Journey story template mocked up in Mind Manager that I should share with you. I’ll have to clean it up and pass it along…

    I don’t want to write
I didn’t sleep well last night
    Who wants chocolate cake?

YES, Eric, please share, I’d love to link it. I have a half-baked spreadsheet but it’s not worth sharing.

    Here’s another haiku:

    Cat on monitor
Why do you stare at me so?
    I fed you this morn

    Kids are out of school
But to interrupt Mama’s writing is to court

I must have hit enter too soon…

    Kids are out of school
Don’t bug mom while she’s writing
    Slow and painful death

    Kids are still in school
    Running out of tick-tock time
    Muse shrugs, takes a nap

    ilness crawled in and
    sucked out fuctional brain cells
muse packed up and left me.

Oh, I can’t believe I had enough in me to
write even that. Have you ever had the “I’m so
sick I wish I should be dead illness”? I have that one right now. (don’t worry I washed my hands before I typed in your nice clean box)

    bubye. *cough, gasp, ugh….

    Oh, man, Kay. Feel better.

    Chicken soup through straw
    Echinacea and some zinc
    Snug under covers

    (Sleep. :))
